Schneider National, CN, KCS improve Mexico Direct

Schneider National’s nonstop, borderless Mexico Direct intermodal service, launched in 2006, now offers a new steel-wheel interchange in Jackson, Miss., with CN and Kansas City Southern. It’s described as “a faster, more efficient option for shippers crossing the border.”

Record 3Q revenue for KCS

Kansas City Southern Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 reported third-quarter net income of $119 million, or $1.07 per diluted share, up from $91 million, or 82 cents per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2012. The increase was driven by record third-quarter revenue of $622 million, up 8% from a year ago, with carloads up 3%.

KCS kicks-off Holiday Express charitable fundraiser

Kansas City Southern will be running its 13th annual Holiday Express train through 20 communities in six states on 24 dates this Christmas season between Nov. 29 and Dec. 22, and is now seeking donations to purchase gift cards that are donated to the Salvation Army at each scheduled stop. The gift cars are used to purchase warm clothing and other necessities for children in these communities. During the past 12 years, the Holiday Express has raised almost $1.2 million for this purpose.

KCS succession plan continues on-track

Kansas City Southern on Thursday, Aug. 8 announced, “in furtherance of its long-term succession planning,” that Michael R. Haverty will transition from his current position of Executive Chairman and employee of the company, to Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors and will also become Chairman of the Executive Committee of the board effective Sept. 30, 2013.

KCS 2Q earnings, adjusted, beat Street

Kansas City Southern reported second-quarter earnings of $15.4 million, or 14 cents a share, Friday, July 19, 2013.

KCS de Mexico lands Chrysler Group honors

Kansas City Southern said Wednesday, June 12, 2013 it was “pleased to announce that Chrysler Group LLC has honored Kansas City Southern de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (KCSM) with its Supplier of the Year award in the Logistics category.”

KCS names Selby short line, energy markets VP

Kansas City Southern has promoted Darin P. Selby to Vice President Energy Markets and Short Line Partner Relations, from his previous position as Assistant Vice President.

KCS sees stronger traffic in 2013 and beyond

In the company’s annual report, just released, Kansas City Southern President and Chief Executive Officer David L. Starling and Executive Chairman Michael R. Haverty say they view 2013 as a year that will see a continuation of the growth that produced record revenues in 2012 despite challenges to utility coal and grain businesses.
