The Association of American Railroads said U.S. rail traffic for the week ending Dec. 16, 2017 was 554,779 carloads and intermodal units, up 5.9% compared with the same week a year ago. Volume was 265,169 carloads, up 4.1%, while intermodal volume was 289,610 containers and trailers, up 7.6% from the year-ago week.
Weekly U.S. rail traffic was 560,756 carloads and intermodal units for the week ending Dec. 9, up 4% percent compared with the same week a year ago, according to the Association of American Railroads.
Total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 572,794 carloads and intermodal units, up 3.5% compared with the same week a year ago, according to the Association of American Railroads.
Freight traffic for U.S. railroads for the week ending November 25 was 463,602 carloads and intermodal units, up 2.4% compared with the same week a year ago, according to the Association of American Railroads.
The Association of American Railroads reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending November 18 of 554,066 carloads and intermodal units, up 1.2%, compared with the same week in 2016.
The Association of American Railroads reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending November 11 was 547,480 carloads and intermodal units, up 1.2% compared with the same week in 2016.
Rail freight flattened out for the week ending Nov. 4, as the Association of American Railroads reported U.S. traffic was 538,739 carloads and intermodal units, down 0.8% compared with the same week in 2016.
Following steadily growing weekly volume, intermodal rail traffic reached an all-time high on U.S. carriers in October, according to the Association of American Railroads.
Total U.S. rail traffic for the week ending Oct. 21 was 559,989 carloads and intermodal units, up 3% from the same week a year ago, according to the Association of American Railroads. Traffic totaled 268,943 carloads, up 0.2%, while intermodal volume was 291,046 containers and trailers, up 5.6%, and a record for a single week.
Kansas City Southern has formed a new Health, Safety and Environmental group within the Operations department “to consolidate occupational health, workplace and public safety, and environmental functions under a single management to better align and coordinate with the company’s Operations groups,” KCS reported on Oct. 17.
