Norfolk Southern debuts the TAG (Tennessee, Alabama, & Georgia Railway) Heritage locomotive. Also, three Union Pacific (UP) employees are recognized for their “personal advocacy to improve awareness and understanding of physical and mental health conditions.”

NS Shuttering Roanoke Locomotive Facilities

Norfolk Southern is closing its historic, 137-year-old Locomotive Shop in Roanoke, Va., transferring all locomotive work to its Juniata Shops in Altoona, Pa. NS predecessor railroad Norfolk & Western began operating the locomotive shop, then Roanoke Machine Works, in 1883. The railroad is also closing its associated Roanoke Distribution Center, which supports the shop as well as other mechanical department facilities across its system.

Norfolk Southern rolls out the GP33ECO

Norfolk Southern joined local and state officials on Nov. 5, 2015 to dedicate a new fleet of GP33ECO environmentally friendly yard locomotives for Chicago at its 47th Street intermodal facility.
