SunTrain Announces Grant Collaboration for Colo. WATT Pilot Project

SunTrain, a San Francisco, Calif.-based provider and developer of renewable energy storage and distribution, on Dec. 4 announced a “first-in-the-nation” proposal for the Wireless Alternative by Train Transport (WATT) pilot project, which aims to “utilize advanced battery storage on conventional freight railcars, bringing more renewable energy from locations where it is generated to increase the capacity of Colorado’s transmission system.”

NS, IBEW Reach Tentative Collective Bargaining Agreement

Norfolk Southern (NS) announced Oct. 22 that it has reached a tentative five-year collective bargaining agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), pushing the coverage of the union workforce under early tentative deals to approximately 67%.

“Today, we announced our new four-year agreement with the local chapter of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) at the Carrollton Streetcar Barn,” RTA reported in a Sept. 7 Facebook post. “We are excited to continue to partner with our skilled workforce who maintain our buildings and fleet, which allows the RTA to deliver world class transit!” (RTA Photograph)
