Labor Updates: LIRR, TTC

The second Presidential Advisory Board (PEB) to help settle a years-long contract dispute at MTA Long Island Rail Road in New York issues recommendations. Also, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) formally files for conciliation with Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 2, a bargaining unit representing some 700 electrical, signal and cable technicians.

CN and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) reach tentative collective agreements with the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers (IBEW) and Unifor, respectively, averting strikes. Also, Connecticut Southern Railroad (CSO), a Genesee & Wyoming subsidiary, joins the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers– Transportation Division (SMART-TD).

BNSF, IBEW Ratify New Collective Labor Agreement

BNSF, in partnership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), announced Dec. 18 that members of the labor union have voted to ratify a new five-year collective bargaining agreement with the Class I, giving covered employees “certainty about upcoming enhancements to their pay, healthcare, and vacation.”
