Coree Cuff Lonergan is joining the Broward County (Fla.) Transportation Department (BCTD) as Director of Transportation/General Manager. Also, Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) has appointed Ryan Houfek as At-Large Director and Rob Cannizzaro as Chief Operating Officer; and Kansas City (Mo.) Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) has named Frank White III President and CEO.

Karen J. Hedlund has been designated Vice Chairman of the Surface Transportation Board (STB). Also, the League of Railway Women (LRW) named Trinity Industries, Inc. President and CEO Jean Savage 2022 Railway Woman of the Year; and the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) has installed its 2023 Board of Directors and Officers.

IANA: 3Q22 Trailer Traffic Down, Containers Up

Third-quarter 2022 total intermodal volumes fell 1.0% year-over-year based on a 27.7% decline in intermodal trailer traffic, according to the Intermodal Association of North America’s (IANA) Intermodal Quarterly report. Domestic containers and international containers were up 1.5% and 0.1%, respectively.

IANA: ‘Volume Loss is Relative’

Third-quarter 2021 total intermodal volumes fell 2.9% year-over-year, according to the Intermodal Association of North America’s Intermodal Quarterly report. International containers gained a slight 0.9% from 2020, but domestic shipments feel 5.7%, with trailers registering the steepest decline, 11.2%.
