ARS acquires FreightCar America’s repair and maintenance services business

Appalachian Railcar Services, Inc. (ARS) announced Sept. 30, 2015 that its wholly-owned subsidiary, ARS Nebraska, LLC, has acquired all of FreightCar America, Inc.’s railcar repair and maintenance services business.

FreightCar America reported its fourth-quarter and full-year 2014 results Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, after the closing bell on Wall Street, highlighted by positive net earnings in 2013 compared with a net loss in 2013.

FreightCar America 3Q earnings much improved

Miner touts AggreGate outlets sale

Miner Enterprises Inc. said Thursday, June 12, 2014 that “a Class I railroad has selected Miner’s 5-foot manual AggreGate® outlets for 54 new ballast cars currently being built by FreightCar America, Inc.” Miner did not identify the end-use customer.

FreightCar America, Inc. reported a fourth-quarter loss following the close of trading Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, with its rail division contributing to the shortfall. The company’s fourth quarter net loss was $12.3 million, or a loss of $1.03 per diluted share, on revenue of $79.7 million.

FreightCar America marks 2Q loss

FreightCar America, Inc. recorded a net loss of $3.4 million, or a loss of 29 cents per diluted share, in the second quarter, the company said late Friday, Aug. 2, 2013. That compared with net income of $5.6 million, or a gain of 46 cents per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2012.

FreightCar America commences production in Alabama

FreightCar America, Inc. has commenced production at its new Shoals facility in Cherokee, Ala. The company sub-leased approximately 25% of the manufacturing facility from Navistar, Inc. earlier this year.
