Angel Peña to Join Denver RTD

Denver (Colo.) Regional Transportation District (RTD) has appointed Angel Peña as its inaugural Deputy CEO, leading the day-to-day operations and management of multiple departments and divisions, including Capital Programs, Safety and Environmental

The 2.4-mile DC Streetcar, which launched its first phase in 2015 and second phase in 2016, runs free, daily trips along the H Street NE Corridor and Benning Road from Union Station to Oklahoma Avenue. The District Department of Transportation (Washington, D.C.) extends Jacobs’ program management contract for the DC Streetcar. Also, Forbes ranks New Jersey Transit (NJT) as a “best employer”; Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) provides free Transit app upgrade to public transportation riders statewide; metro Vancouver’s TransLink launches a fare enforcement program; and Memphis (Tenn.) Area Transit Authority (MATA) suspends trolley service.

DC Streetcar to begin passenger service

After more than a decade of planning, construction and testing, District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser and District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Director Leif A. Dormsjo announced Feb. 18, 2016 that the DC Streetcar will open for full passenger service on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m., following a brief ceremony.
