Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) releases its first Point B Strategic Plan Annual Report. Also, the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) tests a new electric OC Streetcar ahead of its 2026 launch; and the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) launches a near-term plan to enhance the customer experience and increase transit utilization.

Also, Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) takes delivery of its last Type 6 MAX LRV on order; and VIA Rail Canada (VIA Rail) celebrates The Canadian’s 70th year of service and provides an update on its new Pan-Canadian fleet.

After three decades of service and more than 10 million trips, the Breda light rail vehicles at San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) are being retired. Also, New Jersey Transit (NJT) marks a renovation milestone at Mahwah Station; San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority (SJJPA) rebrands the Amtrak San Joaquins service in California; Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) extends discounted fare card benefits amid the government shutdown; California’s Caltrain releases its customer satisfaction survey results; Denver (Colo.) Regional Transportation District (RTD) is developing a comprehensive plan for additional, dedicated event service; and Alstom will hire more than 100 employees at its Plattsburgh, N.Y., plant to meet increased railcar demand.

Also, Tri-Rail will end $5 rideshare voucher program; DC Streetcar service will end on March 31, 2026; the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) restricts advertisements on train windows; the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) launches a new transit incentive to encourage Baltimore-area commuters to try transit; the Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) invests $1 million in its safety and security program; the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s (PANYNJ) PATH commuter rail achieves its second-busiest month since the pandemic; and TransLink celebrates 30 years of the West Coast Express.

Denver RTD Proposes $1.3B Budget for FY26

The Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) on Oct. 16 announced that it is proposing a $1.3 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2026, an amount that the agency says includes appropriations for operating expenses, state of good repair work, and debt service before carryforwards.

Denver RTD Releases Draft 2025 Finishing FasTracks Report

The Denver (Colo.) Regional Transportation District (RTD) on Sept. 29 released a draft of its comprehensive 2025 Finishing FasTracks Report, outlining the $1.6 billion capital and operating costs needed to complete the 2004 voter-approved transit expansion program, as well as revenue and ridership projections for the four unfinished corridors.
