Watch: NY MTA Exercises Option for More Wabtec R255s

Wabtec Corporation on Jan. 7 reported landing a $386 million follow-on order to supply 45 R255 locomotives to the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for maintenance-of-way operations. Deliveries of the hybrid battery-diesel units are scheduled to begin in 2027.

ADM Receives KLW Tier 4 Switcher

ADM (Archer Daniels Midland) has accepted delivery of a KLW (Knoxville Locomotive Works) Tier 4 switcher locomotive at its Corpus Christi, Tex., facilities. A Cummins Tier 4 QST30 Module powers this unit.

After Nearly 50 Years of Service, BNSF Engineer Dale Dannewitz Retires

It was 1976, a year when there was a resurgence of leisure train travel with the start of Amtrak, when Class I railroads in the Northeast joined to form Conrail, and railroads across the nation debuted patriotic livery paint schemes in honor of America’s bicentennial. And in Minot, N.Dak., a young Dale Dannewitz started his railroading career that would span nearly a half century.
