Watco Signs Agreement to Acquire GLC (UPDATED 6/24)

Pittsburg, Kans.-based Watco Railroad Company Holdings, Inc. (Watco) on March 6 reported plans to add Great Lakes Central Railroad (GLC) to its short line portfolio pending approval by the Surface Transportation Board (STB). It has been an equity investor in the GLC since 2013 and now seeks ownership. The STB on May 30 instituted a proceeding.

SC Ports: ‘Reliable Service’, ‘Creative Solutions’

“As the broader supply chain and global markets face a great deal of uncertainty,” South Carolina Ports (SC Ports) says it is supporting customers with “reliable service and creative solutions.”

According to CSX, approximately 200 automotive terminals undergo AAR audits each year, and only the highest-scoring facilities receive awards. “TDSI’s performance in 2025 stood out for its high scores and the breadth of recognition across its facilities,” the railroad reported June 13. CSX Locomotive Engineers Ratify New Contract

A new five-year collective bargaining agreement with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) has been ratified at CSX, the railroad and union reported June 11. It governs approximately 3,400 railroaders and runs through Dec. 31, 2029.

For CSX, Lowest PDT in 20 Months

CSX on June 10 reported reaching “a new milestone,” posting a May 2025 Process Dwell Time (PDT) of 20.01 hours—a slight improvement from its previous PDT low of 20.47 hours in January
