CSX launches Operation Respond

As part of an ongoing focus on community emergency preparedness and training, CSX is introducing “CSX Operation Respond,” a new mobile information system that it says “will enhance first responders’ ability to access train and cargo information in real time via their mobile devices.”

CSX to help fund Baltimore wall repair

CSX Transportation reportedy has agreed to pay up to $10 million to the city of Baltimore for costs related to rebuilding the 26th Street wall that collapsed last spring, spilling automobiles and a portion of the road onto CSX’s own right-of-way below.

Record 2Q earnings, revenue, for CSX

CSX Corp. announced record second-quarter net earnings of $529 million, or 53 cents per share, Tuesday afternoon, July 15, 2014, after the closing bell on Wall Street. Results were up from $521 million, or 51 cents per share, in the comparable quarter in 2013. CSX also beat Wall Street consensus per share estimates, recently raised, of 52.2 cents.

CSX completes five-state Maintenance Jamboree

CSX has performed annual Maintenance Jamborees since 1999, when a machine operator coined the term “Jamboree” to describe the mass gathering of maintenance-of-way crews and equipment in one area. The most recent Jamboree, a $25 million project encompassing five states, concluded over the 2014 July 4 holiday weekend.

SunRail rolling in central Florida

Central Florida’s new SunRail regional/commuter rail service has been in operation since May 1 along a 32-mile route comprised of 12 stations between DeBary and Sand Lake Road, near Orlando International Airport. The new service marks completion of the first phase of the $1 billion Central Florida Commuter Rail Transit (CFCRT) project.
