Congresswoman Graham and staff tour Georgia & Florida Railway

On Sept. 15, 2015, Congresswoman Gwen Graham’s (D-FL-02), District Director Mary Lee Kiracofe and Economic Development Liaison Kent Watson toured the Georgia & Florida Railway (GFRR) in Perry, Fla. The GFRR is a network of approximately 264 miles of track commencing from its Albany, Ga. headquarters, and extending into northwestern Florida near the Gulf of Mexico. Throughout the entire line, connections are made along the way with other railroads in Florida and Georgia, including Class I’s Norfolk Southern and CSX. The GFRR is owned and managed by OmniTRAX Inc.

AFHK, CSX provide grants to 292 schools

Action for Healthy Kids® (AFHK) has announced the 292 recipients of School Grants for Healthy Kids for the 2015-2016 school year, provided through funding by CSX Corporation. Awarded in 13 states, the grants aim to improve student knowledge, attitudes and behaviors around physical activity, while also engaging parents to support physical activity at home. Grants may also include a healthy eating component.

CSX donates 130 acres to 9/11 National Memorial Trail Alliance

CSX has agreed to donate 130 acres of undeveloped land in southwestern Pennsylvania to the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance, a not-for-profit organization formed to establish a memorial trail to link the memorial sites at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the Flight 93 National Memorial, the railroad announced on Sept. 9, 2015. The donation provides land that will help the alliance build a 7-mile portion of an off-road multipurpose trail between the Great Alleghany Passage Trail in Garrett, Penn., and the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Penn.

CSX updates third-quarter and full-year 2015 expectations

CSX Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Fredrik Eliasson, formerly the company’s CFO, on Sept. 9, 2015 reviewed performance to date and updated investors on the company’s third-quarter and full-year expectations at the Cowen and Company 8th Annual Global Transportation Conference in Boston, Mass.

CSX: Munoz sheds wheels for wings; Gooden elevated to President

CSX President and Chief Operating Officer Oscar Munoz has left the railroad, effective immediately, to become President and Chief Executive Officer of United Continental Holdings, Inc., parent company of United Airlines, following the scandal-laced resignation of United head Jeff Smisek and two of his lieutenants. Munoz has served on the board for United Continental since 2010 and previously was a Continental director.
