CPKC, CSXT Advance Mexico-Texas-U.S. Southeast Corridor Plan (UPDATED)

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and CSX Transportation are seeking Surface Transportation Board (STB) approval to establish a new interchange connection in Alabama and freight corridor linking Mexico, Texas and the U.S. Southeast. The STB on Nov. 3 accepted for consideration their applications.

NTSB: Loose Debris from Mudslide Probable Cause of CSX Derailment

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recently determined that the probable cause of a February 13, 2020, derailment of CSX Transportation (CSX) train K42911 on a railroad track that runs between a hillside and the Russel Fork River in Draffin, Ky., was loose mud, vegetation, sand, soil and rock from a mudslide that obstructed the track following excessive rain accumulation over several weeks.

The painted CSXT 4568 will travel across the railroad’s network to help raise awareness on rail safety.

RSI Logistics, Madison Railroad Partner on New Transload Facility

Rail logistics solution provider RSI Logistics, Inc., announced on Sept. 8 that it is partnering with Madison Railroad on a marketing campaign to promote the railroad’s new 22-acre rail-to-truck transload facility, which the railroad purchased in June and that RSI Logistics, Inc. will be operating.
