CSX deploys its first owned and operated locomotive service truck in Ohio. Also, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) teams with the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation and CK Hui Heart Center; and Union Pacific’s (UP) Big Boy No. 4014 will make 27 whistle-stops during the western leg of its coast-to-coast tour, which starts next month.

TSB Issues Investigation Report for 2024 CPKC Train Derailment

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) on Feb. 24 officially released its investigation report into a 2024 main-track derailment of a Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) train near Brooks, Alberta, Canada. It revealed that the derailment was the result of a seized axle on the trailing head-end locomotive, and that “incomplete training” was a contributing factor.

BNSF and members of the Transportation Communications Union/IAM (TCU) intermodal group reach a new tentative labor agreement. Also, Norfolk Southern (NS) teams up with Genesee & Wyoming (G&W) to provide rail safety education; Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) participates in Canada’s Trade Mission to Mexico; and CN welcomes Minister of Transport Steven MacKinnon to its campus in Winnipeg.
