NTSB: Event recorder not functioning

An Oct. 3 National Transportation Safety Board update on the Sept. 29 crash of NJ Transit Pascack Valley Line train #1614 into the platform of the Hoboken Terminal has revealed that the event recorder in the train’s locomotive, which was in push mode (at the rear of the consist) was not functioning at the time of the wreck.

NJT train crashes at Hoboken Terminal

(Updated Sept. 30, 9:35 AM EDT) One person died and 108 were injured, some of them critically, when an NJ Transit train crashed through an end-of-platform bumping block and into the train concourse in Hoboken Terminal just before 9:00 AM on Thursday, Sept. 29.

$1.6 billion new train station for New York
