New oversight for LA-San Diego services

A statement Monday by the LOSSAN Rail Corridor agency commended California Gov. Jerry Brown for signing State Senate Bill 1225, authorizing the transfer of management for the state-supported intercity passenger rail service linking San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Luis Obispo from the state to a local Joint Powers Authority (JPA).

Bombardier LRT manufacturing wins award

Light rail transit ridership maintained its strong U.S. growth trend in the second quarter of 2012, the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) said Tuesday. FRA funds third track for northern Virginia

The Federal Railroad Administration Monday announced its intent to release $74.8 million for 11 miles of a third track for use by Virginia Rail Express (VRE), CSX, and Amtrak in northern Virginia.

Sounder Lakewood extension looms

Seattle Sound Transit says it will add Lakewood, Wash., to its regional passenger rail service offerings Monday, Oct. 8, which includes new service at South Tacoma Station. A dedication ceremony is slated for Oct. 6 to herald the event.
