Prototype MP54AC delivered to Metrolinx, GO Transit

Wabtec Corp. subsidiary MotivePower has delivered a prototype MP54AC diesel-electric locomotive to Metrolinx, the regional transportation authority for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), for service on GO Transit. This is the first regional/commuter locomotive delivered in North America certified to meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Tier 4 emissions standards.

Kourosh Noori joins Stantec

Kourosh Noori has joined Stantec as Rail and Transit Systems Lead, Canada. 
 He will serve as an authority on Transit & Rail Systems projects and provide guidance on managing and executing them. He will be based at Stantec’s Markham, Ontario office.

Wicker establishes rail service restoration task force

U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) on Feb. 16, 2016 announced that a new group has been established to study the return of passenger rail service between New Orleans, La. to Orlando, Fla. along the Gulf Coast. This line of service was lost after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Retractable bridge plates a first for Brightline

Brightline, the higher-speed intercity passenger rail service to be offered by Florida East Coast subsidiary All Aboard Florida, will be the first North American passenger trains equipped with retractable bridge plates for high-level boarding platforms.
