For CTA 7000 Series, improved seating

As part of a continuing plan to modernize its railcar fleet, the Chicago Transit Authority has developed a new railcar seating configuration for its next generation of railcars, the 7000 Series, that it plans to purchase and introduce as early as 2016.

Bombardier resumes CTA car delivery

Delivery of Chicago Transit Authority’s 5000 Series transit cars resumed last week after being suspended this spring, reportedly due to quality control issues at Bombardier Transportation’s facilities in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

In Chicago, Bombardier cars debut

Chicago Transit Authority, joined by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, on Monday ceremonially unveiled the first new 5000-series rail cars, manufactured by Bombardier Transportation, to be placed into regular revenue service. CTA says it is the first new equipment for CTA rail service since 1992. The cars initially will enter service on the Pink Line.
