AAR: Historic month for U.S. rail intermodal

CP donates $50,000 to Harvey relief

Canadian Pacific is donating US$50,000 to the American Red Cross to help with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts and will match all employee contributions.

CP: Bring on the grain

Intermodal up 5.1% in AAR weekly carloads

Total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 548,790 carloads and intermodal units for the week ending August 12, up 2.75% compared with the same week in 2016.

The Association of American Railroads said U.S. rail traffic for the week ending Aug. 5, 2017 totaled 554,822 carloads and intermodal units, up 4.3% compared with the same week a year ago.

GWR expands grain hopper fleet

Great Western Railway Ltd., Saskatchewan, has acquired 150 grain hopper railcars from the Government of Saskatchewan, following a competitive bidding process. This is GWR’s first purchase of its kind since the railway’s inception, when it was formed from lines purchased from Canadian Pacific in 2000.
