CP’s Harrison sets 2018 financial goals

At Canadian Pacific’s 2014 Investor Conference, CEO E. Hunter Harrison unveiled new growth targets out to 2018, and “a multi-year strategy to drive superior service and financial profitability, including more than doubling the company’s earnings per share.”

TCRC-Rail Canada Traffic Controllers ratify agreement with CP

The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference-Rail Canada Traffic Controllers (TCRC-RCTC) has ratified a labor agreement with Canadian Pacific Railway covering approximately 135 rail traffic controllers in Canada. The agreement was ratified with a record 94% of votes cast in favor.

STB summons CP, BNSF to service hearing

The Surface Transportation Board late Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, announced it will hold a public field hearing on Sept. 4, 2014 “to provide interested persons and parties the opportunity to report on service problems in the United States rail network, to hear from rail industry executives on their efforts to address service problems, and to discuss additional options to improve rail service.”

CN, CP: Bring on the harvest

Canada’s 2014-2015 grain harvest will soon be under way, and both CN and Canadian Pacific say they are well-prepared to accommodate the new harvest with a steady throughput rate in synch with the grain supply chain, and are able to address the excess carryover from last year’s record crop by as early as next spring.

Canadian Pacific early Thursday, July 17, 2014, reported second-quarter net income of C$371 million (US$345 million), or C$2.11 (US$1.96) per diluted share, a record for the second quarter, and up from C$252 million, or C$1.43 per share, in the comparable quarter of 2013.

STB to Class I’s: File grain order plans

The Surface Transportation Board is requiring Canadian Pacific and BNSF “to publicly file their plans to timely resolve their backlogs of grain car orders, as well as weekly status reports pertaining to grain car service.”

CP extends CEO Harrison’s contract

Canadian Pacific Railway said Wednesday, May 7, 2014, it had agreed to a contract extension with CEO E. Hunter Harrison, adding a year to his term, which will now run until 2017.
