BLET Ratifies Contract With GWR; BMWED, HESR Ratify New Agreement

Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) members have ratified a new contract with the Great Western Railway of Colorado (GWR). Also, Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (BMWED) members on the Huron and Eastern Railway (HESR) have ratified a new collective bargaining agreement by a vote of 14-4.

At CPKC, 16 five-year agreements have been ratified that provide “increased wages” to approximately 700 railroaders working in Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin. (Courtesy of CPKC)

Sixteen collective bargaining agreements have been ratified and two tentative agreements have been reached at Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) in the United States. Also, Norfolk Southern (NS) surpasses its locomotive “Fly Rate” goal in 2025.

The San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission (SJRRC) appoints Chris Orlando as CEO. BLET, BMWED, BRS Oppose Potential UP-NS Merger (UPDATED 12/23)

The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division (BMWED), representing 53% of the unionized workforce at Union Pacific (UP) and Norfolk Southern (NS), on Dec. 17 announced their opposition to the $85 billion plan to merge the two Class I railroads. On Dec. 22, the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS) also reported opposing the UP-NS combination.

BLET Teamsters at SEPTA, CPKC Soo Line Ratify New Contracts

Six-hundred locomotive engineers at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) and CPKC Soo Line represented by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) of the Teamsters Rail Conference have voted to ratify two new collective bargaining agreements, the union announced Dec. 12.
