RSI Names Riley as President

The Board of Directors of the Railway Supply Institute (RSI) on March 17 announced that it has selected Jim Riley as its new President, effective March 31, 2025.

Crawford Earns OLI Rail Safety Education Award

Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI) has honored Robert “Bob” Crawford of Oklahoma City, Okla., with the 2024 F. Tom Roberts Memorial Volunteer Award in recognition of his “outstanding dedication to railroad safety education.”

PSC Acquires 32 Rescar Operations

PSC Group (PSC), a provider of logistics and repair services to the chemical, refining, agricultural, and pulp and paper industries, on March 10 announced that it is expanding its railcar business through the acquisition of 32 Rescar operations located across the U.S. Founded in 1969, Rescar offers repair, inspection, cleaning, switching, and maintenance services for railcars and ISO containers.

Caltrain Implementing Asset Monitoring Tech at Crossings

California’s Caltrain has begun installing Herzog’s LiDAR and camera-based artificial intelligence (AI) system at its Churchill Avenue highway/rail grade crossing in Palo Alto to mitigate collisions between commuter rail trains and vehicles, people, or other objects, following an earlier installation at the Broadway Crossing in Burlingame.

Freeland Appointed Minister of Transport, Internal Trade
