Spurring Industrial Development in Alabama, Texas

New industrial development initiatives are under way in Alabama and Texas. While a Norfolk Southern (NS)-served site in Huntsville, Ala., will soon be home to Eli Lilly and Company’s $6 billion advanced manufacturing campus, Surface Transportation Board (STB) approval is being sought for rail line construction between Union Pacific’s (UP) Laredo Subdivision in Texas and a new industrial park.

LSRC Acquiring SD70ACeT4s

Michigan-based Class II Lake State Railway Company (LSRC) is purchasing four EMD® SD70ACeT4 locomotives from Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company. Numbered LSRC 6451 through 6454, they are former Progress Rail demonstrator units.
