Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon’s (TriMet) MAX Train 120 surpassed 2 million miles of service this month—the equivalent of traveling the world’s entire rail network, twice—the agency reported.

Transit Briefs: Metrolinx, Caltrain, WMATA

Metrolinx has taken delivery of the last of 36 GO Transit bilevel commuter cars, which were ordered in September 2019. In addition, Caltrain service will surpass pre-pandemic levels starting Aug. 30, and Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority (WMATA) is adding more trains and buses and extending operating hours beginning Sept. 5.

Alstom Lands Airport People Mover Contract

The Houston Airport System has awarded Alstom a 10-year, $105.1 million (€87 million) contract to operate and maintain the Skyway automated people-mover system at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Texas.
