Winnipeg Rail Park Project Moving Forward

The Manitoba (Canada) government and CentrePoint Canada Inc. on March 25 reported their selection of Focus Equities Inc. as the developer of a Winnipeg rail park, to be served by BNSF, Canadian Pacific (CP) and CN.

BLET, SMART-TD Seeking Arbitration Over BNSF Hi-Viz

The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) and the SMART Transportation Division reported March 23 that they will “proceed as expeditiously as possible to arbitration” over BNSF’s Hi-Viz worker availability policy that took effect Feb. 1.

JBHT, BNSF Stackin’ ‘Em Up

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. (JBHT) and BNSF have launched a joint capacity expansion initiative to accommodate new intermodal container services and “meet the expanding needs of current customers.”

Amtrak Issues 2021 Host Railroad Report Card

Amtrak has issued a 2021 Host Railroad Report Card, ranking the Class I railroads for keeping Amtrak intercity passenger trains on time, and presented an award to Canadian Pacific (CP) for earning its sixth-consecutive “A” grade.

Starting in second-quarter 2022, the companies will demonstrate the performance of biodiesel (B20) and renewable diesel (R55) in revenue service on Wabtec Tier 3 and Tier 4 Evolution Series locomotives. The units will run in California.

BNSF, Wabtec to Test Higher-Percentage Blends of Biofuels

BNSF is partnering with Wabtec on a biofuels pilot “aimed at quantifying the impact of alternative fuels on emissions, durability and performance in Wabtec locomotives,” Wabtec reported on March 9.
