BNSF, MRL move 10,000th Boeing 737 fuselage

An aviation milestone has been achieved thanks to a half-century of railroad transport. Spirit AeroSystems announced on Feb. 14 that the 10,000th 737 fuselage had left its factory in Wichita, Kans., and was en route by rail to Boeing’s massive assembly plant in Renton, Wash.

Intermodal outpaces weekly carloads

The Association of American Railroads said U.S. rail traffic for the week ending February 10 was 519,545 carloads and intermodal units, up 1.6% from the same week a year ago.

BNSF sets capex plans in three states

BNSF Railway Co. has announced 2018 capital expenditure programs for its system in three states—Montana, Missouri and Kansas—totaling $385 million, roughly 12% of its system-wide $2.4 billion 2018 program.

BNSF joins blockchain alliance

BNSF Railway Company announced it recently became the first Class I railroad to join the Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA), comprising more than 200 freight transportation companies working to develop blockchain standards for the logistics industry and the supply chain as a whole.
