Rail Traffic’s Recovery Process Takes Step Back

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ended July 11, 2020, and, for this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 449,092 carloads and intermodal units, down 14.9% compared with the same week last year.

AAR Survey: Freight Rail “Critically Important”

A majority of U.S. adults believe that the freight rail industry is critically important to the U.S. economy, according to a newly released poll conducted by Morning Consult on behalf of the Association of American Railroads (AAR). In addition, more than 75% percent of respondents view the industry as safe, “validating years of private investment that have corresponded with dramatic safety gains.”

Rail Traffic Still Down

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ended June 20, 2020, and, for this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 457,278 carloads and intermodal units, down 12.9% compared with the same week last year.

Rail Traffic Down Across the Board

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ended June 13, 2020, and, for this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 449,291 carloads and intermodal units, down 14.9% compared with the same week last year.

Rail Traffic Still Recovering

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ended June 6, 2020, and, for this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 433,171 carloads and intermodal units, down 15.6% compared with the same week last year.

AAR: “Long Way to Go, but Far Better Than 2 Weeks Ago”

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ended May 30, 2020, as well as volumes for May 2020. And while the drops in traffic were there in both instances, AAR feels that there were some “heartening” signs.
