Duos Secures 11th Railcar Tech Patent

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted Duos Technologies Inc. a patent for the obliquevue® Oblique Vehicle Undercarriage Examiner. This is the railcar inspection technology supplier’s 11th granted patent; it has six pending applications.

AAR: Carloads Down, Intermodal Up in First Week of 2025

Total U.S. rail traffic for the week ending Jan. 4, 2024 (Week 1) was up 1.0% from the prior-year period, with intermodal gains offsetting carload losses, according to the Association of American Railroads’ (AAR) latest report.

AAR: U.S. Rail Volume Up for 2024

For the 52-week period ending Dec. 28, 2024, total U.S. rail traffic of 25,178,586 carloads and intermodal units was up 3.4% from same point in 2023, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR). This is based on intermodal gains (up 9.3% to 13,842,174 units) compensating for carload losses (down 2.9% to 11,336,412 units).

AAR: North American Rail Volume Up Through Week 51

Total North American carload and intermodal traffic rose 2.3% through the first 51 weeks of 2024 compared with the same period last year, the Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported Dec. 27. The United States and Mexico experienced gains while Canada saw losses through the week ending Dec. 21, 2024.
