Bombardier Transportation on Friday said as part of the Alstom-Bombardier consortium, it will supply 210 double-deck commuter train cars for line A of the RER, the Greater Paris regional rail network. Separately, Alstom on Friday identified the order as “70 additional duplex trainsets, known as MI09s.”
Alstom Transport said Friday it has received an order from the Swedish Public Transport Authority AB Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL) for 46 new Coradia Nordic regional trains.
Alstom said Thursday it has equipped the new Bologna High Speed Bypass Line in Italy, scheduled to open in December, with its Atlas 200 signal platform.
Alstom Thursday said it has signed a signaling system contract worth 17 million euros ($21.4 million) with WSW mobil GmbH to install an ERTMS1-based train command and control system on the 13.3-kilometer (8.2-mile) Wuppertaler Schwebebahn line. The Schwebebahn, or monorail, began service in 1901.
Europorte, the rail freight subsidiary of the Eurotunnel Group, and Alstom on Thursday announced they have signed a partnership agreement covering the maintenance of 17 Alstom manufactured Prima locomotives now operated by Europorte.
In Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, the Société des parcs industriels Sorel-Tracy (SPIST) on Friday launched construction of the new Alstom manufacturing facility. Sorel-Tracy Mayor Réjean Dauplaise and other dignitaries were in attendance to herald the new plant slated for completion next fall.
BART’s Board of Directors Thursday approved an $896 million contract with Bombardier Transportation for 410 cars to replace its aging rapid transit fleet, covering much of BART’s self-prescribed need for 775 cars, replacing its current fleet of 669. But the Board’s decision, and the materials involved in the order, is not without controversy.
