U.S. freight carload volume for the week ending June 9, 2012, once again failed to match the comparable week in 2011, down 1.7%, the Association of American Railroads reported Thursday. The shortfall, however, was less severe than in the previous week, when freight carload volume was down 3.1% compared with a year ago. U.S. intermodal continued to offer a contrast, up 3.8% compared with the same week last year.
Resuming a pattern repeated through much of 2012, U.S. freight carload volume for the week ending June 2, 2012, fell short of the comparable week in 2011, down 3.1%, after gaining ground in the previous week, the Association of American Railroads reported Thursday. Continuing its winning streak, U.S. intermodal volume for the week was up 4.1% compared with the same week last year.
In a welcome departure from past weeks, U.S. freight carload traffic for the week ending May 26, 2012 notched an increase, up 1.3% measured against the comparable week in 2011, the Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported Thursday.

U.S. freight carload traffic fell 5.2% from levels recorded in the same week one year ago, while U.S. intermodal volume notched another weekly gain, up 3.1%, compared with the same week in 2011.
In line with much of 2012, U.S. freight carload traffic for the week ending May 5, 2012 failed to keep pace with 2011 levels, down 2% measured against the comparable week last year, the Association of American Railroads said Thursday. In contrast, U.S. intermodal continued its sustained improvement, up 3% for the week compared with last year.

U.S. freight carload volume for the week ending April 28, 2012 fell 4.1% measured against the comparable week a year ago, continuing an ongoing trend for the year, the Association of American Railroads said Thursday. U.S. intermodal volume, however, continued its own yearly trend during the week, up 5.5% compared with the same week in 2011.
