Together, NYCT and MaBSTOA comprise the largest transit system in North America with over 7.5 million weekday riders and more than 45,000 employees. We are looking for a high performer with demonstrated leadership skills and strategic vision to serve as the Vice President of Supply Logistics.
The 550 employees of the Division of Supply Logistics are responsible for securely managing and controlling the inventory assets of NYCT and providing timely issuance of materials and supplies to support the daily operation, maintenance and repair of NYCT’s assets and its support departments. The Vice President will provide leadership, vision, planning, direction and control of the operations of the Division of Supply Logistics to achieve strategic, operating, business and financial goals. This encompasses the oversight of NYCT’s warehousing and storeroom network, including facility and employee safety, material receiving, storage and delivery, material purging, inventory security and accuracy, systems operations, and the distribution of materials and supplies throughout the NYCT system in order to effectively support NYCT’s services and maintenance programs.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree with a major in Business Administration, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Organizational Management or a related field, and a minimum of fifteen years of experience, including five years of managerial experience; or a satisfactory equivalent.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in managing inventory system designs and warehousing operations.
- Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically.
- Knowledge of computerized inventory management systems.
- Experience working in a large hierarchical organization with multiple bases of operation in a strongly unionized environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience; strong problem-solving abilities; excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in a transportation environment
