Utah Transit Authority General Manager Mike Allegra says construction on the West Valley TRAX light rail line is “done,” coming in ahead of schedule and under budget.Trains are now being tested and bus routes reconfigured in preparation for the Aug. 7 double grand opening of both the West Valley and Mid-Jordan TRAX light rail transit extensions, UTA says.

Construction of the 5.1-mile, $250 million West Valley LRT line began in June 2008. Roughly one-third of the line includes roadside reservation. Daily ridership is estimated to be 10,500 by 2030.
