Track Design Engineer – Lochner

LOCHNER, provides professional services such as highway and bridge design, planning, aviation, transit, freight rail, and currently has a challenging career opportunity for an experienced Track Design Engineer with a minimum of 20 years of experience.  The right candidate will determine the office location for this position.  

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of design documents for freight railroad track design including switches, inter-lockings, turnouts, sidings, track alignments, specifications, criteria, and details
  • Assisting in preparation of proposals and contracts
  • Project communications and documentation
  • Satisfying client requirements and expectations
  • Coordinating work efforts with others
  • Reviewing work performed to maintain quality of the deliverables needed


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • PE license required in at least one state
  • Demonstrated expertise in track design with an emphasis on railroad projects, passenger rail, and transit project experience a plus
  • Knowledgeable with AREMA requirements (RTD Experience a plus)
  • Knowledgeable with Railroad Standards and FRA Regulatory Requirements
  • Experience working in a consulting firm or authority
  • Experience with Microstation and/or AutoCadd
  • Veteran of a Class 1 Railroad
  • Actively participates in AREMA and one or more of the track committees (1 – Roadway & Ballast; 2 – Track Measuring Systems; 4 – Rail; 5 – Track; 14 – Yards & Terminals)
