Written by Nebraska Digital, administratorTERMINAL ENGINEER The Belt Railway Company of Chicago is currently accepting resumes for a Terminal Engineer. The Engineering Department is responsible for planning and directing, inspection, construction, maintenance and repair for Track Infrastructure, Signal/Electronic Equipment, and other Structures (bridges, buildings, miscellaneous facilities). Previous experience working with track dynamics, track inspection, construction and maintenance operations preferred. The successful candidate for this position will effectively assist the Chief Engineer in oversight of Engineering Department projects.
Duties will include management of construction, maintenance and rehabilitation projects including development of work scopes, designs, budgets and schedules; management of personnel, equipment, materials, contractors, and other resources; coordination with various interdepartmental personnel, municipal agencies, utility companies and contractors; participation in preconstruction, project status, and public involvement meetings; supervision of crews and/or contractors during construction; and evaluation of project billing and budgets. Technical evaluation of various engineering design and construction projects to insure that scopes of work proposed by State or Municipal Agencies, consultants, utilities and/or abutters are in conformance with railroad specifications and AREMA standards.
The position requires frequent coordination with local/state agencies and other outside parties as well as supervision of railroad personnel and contractors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering, P.E. preferred
- At least three (3) years of previous railroad engineering management experience
- Demonstrated record of leadership and Project Execution; Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Ability to work Outdoors, 24/7 variable shifts when position requirements dictate
- Working knowledge of all applicable FRA rules and regulations.
