Position Summary: Career opportunity for an experienced manager with an established, rapidly‐growing
manufacturing and distribution company, overseeing a diverse labor force engaged in the processing and
sorting of large volumes of railroad scrap steel. The ideal candidate for this position will have prior
experience and demonstrate skill in workforce management, material handling, material processing, inventory
control, costing, order processing, shipping, receiving, building and equipment maintenance.
Plant consists of an office building and separate shop facility located on 35 improved acres. All of the work
performed at the plant is done outside, and the position requires significant personal oversight of the
workforce to meet quality and productivity goals. Manager is supported by an experienced clerk/secretary
and an existing labor force.
Main responsibilities will be to motivate and manage the workforce to maximize productivity and meet
shipping schedules without sacrificing quality and safety. Manger will oversee sorting and processing of
incoming steel items, filling of sales orders, shipment, inventory accounting, and reporting.
The ideal candidate will be:
  • Self‐motivated and able to establish clear priorities and deadlines
  • Organized and able to organize others
  • Firm in handling labor force and enforcing company policies
  • Experienced in managing a year‐round, outdoor workforce
  • Cost and profit conscious
  • A good communicator and willing to work with other departments within the Company including sales,
    purchasing, accounting and engineering
  • Experienced with equipment including: loaders, forklifts, metal saws and drills
  • Familiar with cutting and drilling of steel as well as grinding and welding techniques
  • Knowledgeable of railroad materials
  • Experienced with inventory management: receiving, costing, and coding of inventoried items
