The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) awards a $750,000 Rail Industrial Access (RIA) grant to Perdue AgriBusiness, LLC (Perdue). Also, BMI Group acquires the former Mackenzie Paper Mill; Blue Moon Metals enters into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to acquire the Springer Critical Metals Mine and Processing Plant in Nevada; and Gulf Inland Logistics Park celebrates the grand opening of its first phase.

The Port of Los Angeles (Port of LA) logs a record quarter for cargo volume and a record year for reducing emissions per container. Also, the Port of Long Beach (POLB) sees cargo dip in September; and the South Carolina Ports (SC Ports) record intermodal and automotive growth.

Denver RTD Proposes $1.3B Budget for FY26

The Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) on Oct. 16 announced that it is proposing a $1.3 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2026, an amount that the agency says includes appropriations for operating expenses, state of good repair work, and debt service before carryforwards.

Metra: 2026 Budget Proposal Includes Fare Increase

Metra earlier this month unveiled a $1.1 billion budget for 2026 that it said includes “an RTA-mandated fare increase and other measures to cover a projected $68 million shortfall, but no service cuts will be needed” for its 11-line commuter rail system in the Chicagoland area. Also proposed: a $575.3 million capital plan that invests in bridges, stations, and new and rehabilitated rolling stock.
