FTA Issues NOFO for ADCMS Program Lead (UPDATED)

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) on Oct. 13 announced the opportunity to competitively apply for $5,093,000 under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 and 2023 Public Transportation Innovation Program to serve as the Program Lead for the Accelerated Advanced Digital Construction Management Systems (ADCMS) program. Applications are due by Feb. 12, 2024.

More delays are anticipated for Amtrak’s new Acela trainsets, already three years behind schedule, due in part to defects and designs not yet meeting Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements, the latest Amtrak Office of Inspector General (OIG) report has found. In a fusion of steel and stars, Union Pacific (UP) recently found itself on a one-of-a-kind voyage, serving a unique customer. The railroad teamed with Norfolk Southern (NS) and short line Florida East Coast (FEC) to safely transport 10 rocket motors from Northrop Grumman Systems in Corinne, Utah, to NASA in Cape Canaveral, Fla., for use in the upcoming Artemis II mission.

Dysfunctional Washington Must Not Slow Us Down

ASLRRA PERSPECTIVE, RAILWAY AGE OCTOBER 2023 ISSUE: As this column is written, the federal government is either shut down or operating under a short-term Continuing Resolution. Whether shut down or just limping along, there appears to be little appetite for compromise between the warring factions in Congress. Be that as it may, the short line industry has much government-related business to concern itself with in the coming months.
