AAR: Week 39 Saw Carloads Down, Intermodal Up

U.S. rail traffic for the week ending Sept. 28, 2024 (Week 39), came in at 507,537 carloads and intermodal units, up 1.6% from the same week last year, based on 227,046 carloads—down 3.5% from 2023—and intermodal volume of 280,491 containers and trailers—up 6.2%, the Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported Oct. 2.
