NJT/AMT dual-power prototype spotlighted at InnoTrans

Vantuono, Editor-in-ChiefAt the biannual InnoTrans exhibition in Berlin, Germany, Bombardier Transportation did a public unveiling of the new ALP45-DP dual-power a.c. catenary/diesel-electric locomotive it is building for New Jersey Transit and Montreal’s AMT. The 4,500-hp locomotive is equipped with twin Caterpillar diesel engines, two-axle trucks, a single operating cab, and a single pantograph. It is designed to operate up to 125 mph, with a 72,000-pound axle load.
