Fort Worth ponders passenger rail options

Written by William C. Vantuono, Editor-in-Chief

The Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) will host three community meetings for its Southeast Fort Worth Rail Feasibility Study to give communities an overview of the study and to solicit their input. The first meeting will take place Monday, with a second meeting expected in March and a third in May.

The authority says input from community stakeholders, and a technical evaluation, will help determine the physical, operational and financial feasibility of future passenger rail service in Southeast Fort Worth. The feasibility study is the first of many steps in this transportation planning process. Rail consultants R. L. Banks & Associates will conduct the study.

“Community input is essential to The T as we begin planning the enhancement of public transportation in Southeast Fort Worth,” said Dick Ruddell, president of The T. “We want to hear as many ideas as possible from residents and businesses so that our planning process takes those ideas into account, and we encourage Fort Worth residents to attend this meeting and provide their input.”
