Written by Nebraska Digital, administratorBusiness Development Manager Description: The Business Development Manager has the responsibility for developing new clients, performing client maintenance with current clients and re-establishing relationships with previous clients. 
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Developing long-term relationships with owners and engineers
2. Locating new marine construction opportunities.
3. Works with the Marketing & Business Development Director in the preparation and presentation of proposals to prospective clients.
4. Actively and aggressively prospect for new clients by generating new leads and/or researching individual markets for potential sales. Develop, qualify and track leads, phone prospecting, setting up appointments, preparing and presenting sales proposals, and working with the internal management team in closing deals.
5. Timely and accurately reporting back to the Marketing & Business Development Director of all contacts and leads and make recommendations as to path forward.
6. Actively participate in trade shows and other industry meetings as directed by the Marketing & Business Development Director
7. Sell clients on the value of Partnering Alliances. Develop, implement and direct the formalized partnering alliances for all government agencies as well as clients in the private sector.
Qualifications & Skills:
1. Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering or related field.
2. 5-8 years of construction sales or related sales experience
3. Prefer candidates with experience in heavy civil markets such as Dams, Railroads and Utilities.
4. Ability to travel extensively over 80% of the time.
5. Strong base knowledge of construction industry. (Marine construction industry preferable).
6. Computer skills to include strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products – (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, Familiarity with CRM favorable but not required.
7. Demonstrated revenue, profit, time, and expense management.
8. Ability to quickly grasp complex technical and business concepts and express them in clearDemonstrated ability to actively listen to all stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal skills including presentation skills along with equally strong listening skills.
9. Ability to work independently while thriving in a team-based environment.
10. Experience in responding to Request for Proposals, Best value Contracts and negotiated contracting is a plus.
12. Excellent negotiation skill to secure and close deals.
13. A strong customer focus; commitment to delivering quality solutions and maintaining effective customer relationships.
