A 225,000 square-foot “build-to-suit” industrial facility near Atlanta, Ga., is now under development and will be served by Fulton County Railway (FCR), a 25-mile short line that interchanges with CSX and is managed by OmniTRAX, a supply-chain and logistics solutions provider and the transportation affiliate of The Broe Group.

The Broe Group on Dec. 4 reported acquiring 5601 Bucknell in the Fulton County Industrial District. The 14-acre acquisition “provides a rare infill redevelopment opportunity within Atlanta’s premier I-20W submarket that houses industry giants including UPS, Amazon, Lowes, Google, and Walmart,” according to the firm, whose real estate affiliate, Broe Real Estate Group, plans to establish a 225,000 square-foot facility there that offers seven megawatts of power in addition to direct rail service. “Pad ready” construction is forecasted for February 2025.

“This project leverages our existing Fulton County Railway service with an exceptional urban site that can serve 80% of U.S. population centers,” said Ryan Higgins, who joined  OmniTRAX in 2021 as Chief Commercial Officer. “We are excited to unlock its full potential.”

The acquisition follows Broe Real Estate Group’s development and leasing of 2 million square feet of industrial space in the Savannah Gateway Industrial Hub.

Separately, OmniTRAX and the Ports of Indiana on Sept. 25 announced the name of their new switching railroad: Mount Vernon Railroad.
