Circular SynTech, LLC is expanding into New Madrid, Mo., with a new “waste-to-renewables” chemical plant.

Circular SynTech, LLC on Feb. 18 held a groundbreaking ceremony for its New Madrid, Mo., facility that will convert municipal solid waste and construction and demolition debris into what it calls “renewable chemicals”; Union Pacific (UP) will serve the 230-acre campus.

New York-based Circular SynTech said it has invested an initial $91.4 million on the CST New Madrid project, which will create more than 40 immediate jobs in the region. Operations are slated to begin later this year.

The site was selected due to its central location on the Mississippi River as well as rail access. The city and county of New Madrid worked with Missouri Partnership, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, and UP to help bring CST to the state.

“We are excited to welcome CST to Missouri,” Missouri Partnership CEO Subash Alias said. “It is so great that one of our newest companies plans to deploy new technologies to solve complex waste-to-renewables challenges while creating jobs and investment in our state.”

“Through its patented proprietary technology, CST utilizes waste that has historically produced environmentally damaging greenhouse gases to create valuable chemicals and distillates that replace fossil fuels in a double win for the environment,” CST CEO Dan Dockter said.
