Kentucky Delivering $1.25MM in Grade Crossing Improvement Grants

Grants totaling $1.25 million will go toward safety improvements at 11 highway/rail grade crossings in eight Kentucky counties. Five of the crossings are in communities served by Norfolk Southern (NS).

Nearly C$3.5MM Raised at CPKC Women’s Open

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) raised nearly C$3.5 million for children’s heart health during the CPKC Women’s Open, with C$2.9 million to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and C$580,000 to the Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) Foundation.

Auxo Acquires Cariboo Central Railroad Contracting

Private investment firm Auxo Investment Partners on Aug. 23 announced that it has acquired Cariboo Central Railroad Contracting, a Western Canada-based railroad construction service provider to Class I railroads, short-line railroads and industrial customers.

FRA Issues Safety Bulletin on Close Clearances Following Conductor Trainee Fatality

Following the Aug. 6 fatality of a conductor trainee during a yard shoving move, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has released a new Safety Bulletin to “encourage railroads to identify locations where clearance specific safety issues could occur.”
