Siemens Mobility, CSX Expand Partnership to Deliver Digital Solutions

Siemens Mobility and CSX announced Oct. 16 that they have agreed to expand their partnership developing and implementing digital solutions for freight rail.

“We’re proud to support construction technology that helps communities build transit projects more quickly,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

FTA Issues NOFO for ADCMS Program Lead (UPDATED)

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) on Oct. 13 announced the opportunity to competitively apply for $5,093,000 under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 and 2023 Public Transportation Innovation Program to serve as the Program Lead for the Accelerated Advanced Digital Construction Management Systems (ADCMS) program. Applications are due by Feb. 12, 2024.

FRA: Locomotive Image and Audio Recording Devices Required for Passenger Trains (UPDATED)

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) on Oct. 12 announced that it is requiring the installation of inward- and outward-facing locomotive image recording devices on all lead locomotives in passenger trains, as required by the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act.

AAR: U.S. Rail Traffic Uptick Continues in Week 40

For the week ending Oct. 7, 2023 (Week 40), total U.S. rail traffic was 499,217 carloads and intermodal units, up 3.0% from the prior-year period, the Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported Oct. 11. It is the fourth consecutive week of gains for carloads and intermodal units.
