The 133-year-old Merchants Bridge, which spans the Mississippi River at St. Louis and links Missouri and Illinois, officially reopened to rail traffic Sept. 15, following completion of a $222 million replacement project. Owned and operated by the Terminal Railroad Association (TRRA), the bridge serves six Class I railroads and Amtrak.
Track inspection technology supplier ENSCO Rail, Inc. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Brazilian infrastructure engineering and construction firm Valec Engenharia to assist development Brazil’s railroad industry by offering technological solutions and expertise on railway infrastructure planning. Valec Engenharia is a Brazilian state-owned legal entity linked to the Ministry of Infrastructure (Minfra).
