Section recently presented Retlif Testing Laboratories, Ronkonkoma, N.Y., with an award for providing financial assistance and consultative advice, and for hosting EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) Society events over the years.

CP strengthens sales and marketing efforts

Canadian Pacific on June 7 said the railroad is now “at an inflection point” in terms of growing business and improving customer service, possessing “a willingness to identify and implement total transportation solutions.” The Sales and Marketing group “is generating new opportunities and driving growth.”

First Tier 4 DUAL LEAF in service

Railserve has placed its first Tier 4 DUAL LEAF® Gen-Set locomotive in service, and says the unit “is performing well and generating more interest in these powerful switching locomotives that provide significant reductions in fuel use and emissions.”

HNTB expands PTC team

HNTB Corp., which is providing Positive Train Control (PTC) engineering and consulting services for numerous projects, has expanded its PTC capabilities by adding two experienced practitioners “to assist transit and rail clients in moving toward compliance and help them address growing infrastructure needs and the approaching legislative deadline” of year-end 2018.

AAR: Steady recovery continues

U.S. rail freight traffic for the week ending June 3, 2017, as well as volume for May 2017 and the first 22 weeks of the year show that business continues its steady recovery, the Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported June 7.

Pakistan adds 20 GE locomotives

GE Transportation will provide Pakistan Railways with 20 FDL C20EMP locomotives, a follow-on order to 55 Evolution Series units ordered in 2015, of which 32 are in service.

BRC selects Wabtec for PTC

Wabtec Corp. has signed a contract worth approximately $22 million to design, install, test and commission Positive Train Control (PTC) for the Belt Railway Company of Chicago (BRC).

Vale, GE make Brazilian connection

Brazil’s Vale and GE Transportation have entered into an agreement to install GE’s Trip Optimizer on nearly 114 Vale locomotives in operation across Brazil.

Danis joins RATP Dev North America-Canada

RATP Dev North America, the North American subsidiary of global transportation provider RATP Dev, has appointment Josée Danis as Vice President of Business Development in Canada. She will be leading the firm’s Canadian offices, based in Montreal, Quebec.
