STV Appoints Three Transportation Executives

Professional services firm STV has tapped three executives to lead its transportation market in the Pacific Northwest, to serve as an infrastructure program advisor and manager, and to oversee the geotechnical and tunnel practice on the West Coast, respectively.

CSX President and CEO Joe Hinrichs is chairing the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) Railroad Museum’s capital campaign to transform its campus in preparation for the 200th anniversary of American railroading. Transit Briefs: BSPRA, Metro-North, Miami-Dade County

The Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority (BSPRA) in Montana will use a $150,000 grant to help plan for passenger rail across the state’s southern tier. Also, MTA Metro-North Railroad unveils its third Heritage Series locomotive, celebrating the commuter railroad’s 40-year history of public service; and Florida’s Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works rolls out free fares on Metrorail and Metrobus services.

ITS Logistics Issues November Port/Rail Ramp Index

The November forecast for the ITS Logistics U.S. Port/Rail Ramp Freight Index shows that all modes across all regions are at normal operations, but shippers and carriers should continue to closely follow “the choke points at the Suez and Panama canals as water conditions worsen and the current conflict between Israel and Gaza,” the Nevada-based third-party logistics (3PL) firm reported Nov. 13.

Tibbits-Nutt to Lead MassDOT

Monica G. Tibbits-Nutt has been appointed Secretary of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). She had been leading the department in an acting capacity since Sept. 11.

Scott Drainville has transitioned from interim to permanent CEO of Hillsborough Transit Authority (HART), which runs the TECO Line Streetcar in Tampa, Fla. Also, Sean Flaherty is the new Transportation Sustainability and Resiliency Director at HDR, a design firm specializing in engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services; and David Cochrane will now lead high-speed rail projects at engineering, environment and professional services consultancy WSP.
