Grant aids Port of Corpus Christi rail project

The Port of Corpus Christi Authority (POCCA) has received a $10 million federal grant toward its Nueces River Rail Yard Expansion project. The grant comes from the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) program of the United States Department of Transportation.

William D. Kennedy, 69

William D. Kennedy, an internationally recognized expert on tunnel ventilation who was instrumental in the development of tunnel ventilation systems for road and rail tunnels worldwide, died on June 23 at the age of 69.

Sygnet Rail Technologies lands Brazil agreement

Sygnet Rail Technologies Tuesday announced it has entered into an agreement with EIF Locomotivas of Brazil to assist in the supply of four locomotives to Sao Paulo Metropolitan Train Company (Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos, or CPTM), a Brazilian regional (commuter) rail company owned by the Sao Paulo State Secretariat for Metropolitan Transports. CPTM has an option to acquire additional locomotives.
